It’s been a wee while since I styled this shoot which I’m immensely proud of.
I can’t believe it’s taken so long to post it on my blog! The beautiful images are taken by Ellie from Jel Photography. I will share the rest with you soon.
Enjoy

When you have a dessert table at an event the savory food seems to take a back seat, so I thought I would give a drink and snack station a whirl.
I love the way it turned out! I think the guests enjoyed being able to sit down with a cup or box of snacks rather than hovering over a bowl of chips.
BIG THANKS TO JEL PHOTOGRAPHY FOR THESE AMAZING IMAGES.
Dessert Table
Sienna’s 1st Birthday has been and gone. What an amazing day, little Miss Sienna rocked the party till the end I was so proud of her!
Almost everything turned out as I expected, the colour selection was perfect even though peach wasn’t the easiest colour to find but it was well worth the search. The cake was absolutely stunning it was definitely worthy of it’s feature spot on the dessert table thanks to Made From Scratch. I hope you enjoy the images of the dessert table……will post more of the drink and snack station soon.
BIG THANKS TO JEL PHOTOGRAPHY FOR THESE AMAZING IMAGES.
Enjoy

STAGE FIVE: DESSERT TABLE LAYOUT
Ok the backdrop is finished. I have grey fabric to use as the tablecloth, next step think about the layout of the serveware and desserts………the fun part!
With my dessert table i’m going for a structured symmetrical design(which is my natural style), starting point is to get your focal point in the middle of the table which will almost always be the cake or a large bunch of flowers, i’m using Sienna’s birthday cake as the focal point and to make this even stronger I’m propping it up with a box for extra height. Another important way of strengthening the focal point is to add a sign or bunting to anchor the backdrop to the focal point, I have had a sign made by the local sign shop.
Focal point sorted, start working on the rest of the layout, think about height in the back row and the balance of serveware shapes and finishes(ceramic and glass). Once the layout of the serveware is sorted start thinking about balance of colour, this will come from the colour of the desserts and coloured card which you can line your serveware with. Just like any symmetrical display think of forming a pyramid line with the use of colour.
The desserts and cakes have been selected for Sienna’s dessert table and i’m so excited and very lucky to have Rachael McMahon from Made from Scratch making most of the very special treats.
You will have to wait to see the finished product in the beautiful images which will be taken by my favourite photographer Eleanor from Jel Photography………oh my goodness can’t wait!!!
Oh so much still to do! EEEEEK!

INVITATIONS
As promised last week here is the end result of the invites. I purchased a design from Etsy shop ICING ON THE PAPER http://www.etsy.com/shop/icingonthepaper and added my own personal touches by pulling in other elements such as silver envelopes which I added the bunting design as an envelope insert, clipped the corners of the invite for a rounded look, a touch of silver glitter and finished the envelope off with glitter tape to seal it. The invite now ties in perfectly into the party colours.
STAGE THREE: INVITATIONS
The plan was to make the invitations but I actually stumbled across and super cute invite while searching for other items on Etsy, I will add a few extra creative touches to add a personal touch which is always important with any invite, these are still work in progress so will show you these in my next post.
In the meantime……… While working on the invites I felt I needed to get a SAVE THE DATE out via email as time is ticking, so with the co-operation of Miss Sienna, task completed within 1 hour! TOO CUTE XO
My advice to you if you want to do a save the date similar to this, place something interesting on the back of the sign for the little one to focus on, I placed a couple of circles cut from glitter paper on the back which seemed to do the trick.
STAGE FOUR: DESSERT TABLE BACKDROP
Time to think about the design of the dessert table, after the colour selection I always start with the backdrop.
When deciding on a backdrop remember it is exactly that a backdrop, not the focal point, the hero should be the beautiful desserts. Go with something that will compliment the desserts, I have decided to handcraft a subtle scalloped design out of light grey napkins, time consuming but easy.
That’s it for now, back soon with the invitation and dessert table layout.
Thanks for your time

I would never normally show the behind the scenes process while still working on a project for obvious reasons, so what’s different about this project? It’s my daughter Sienna’s 1st birthday party and I thought it would be fun to share.
So here goes………
STAGE ONE: DESIGN BRIEF
I believe the first birthday is not only a celebration for Sienna but for us as parents to celebrate getting through the first year. l would like look and feel to be slightly more sophisticated than the traditional first birthday party, no themes, colours to be soft and pretty and no pink!
Due to lack of space and being in the winter months we are having a very small and intimate gathering of our close friends and family.
Design & styling required:
Save the date
Invitations
Dessert Table
Drink station
Cake smashing area
Favours/goodie bags
STAGE TWO: STYLE & COLOUR BOARD
Now that the design brief is clear time to get to work on a colour board.
Here you go…….Sienna’s 1st birthday colour board, I’m going with pastel peach, silver glitter, silver metallic, blush, grey and putty.
That’s all for now, back soon with save the date and invitation designs.
The further I get into this business the more I realise ‘All The Frills’ has something special and unique to offer. I can truly say our events are handcrafted and are personal, because of this they are like no other.
Sometimes I think i’m a little mad when it comes to the amount of time I put into each event, in the last two weeks I have handcrafted: backdrops, drink stirrers, painted jars, made a tablecloth, bunting banners, painted wall art, strung anything from cutlery to resin animals, spray painted my heart out…………..and that was for just one event!
After thinking about this I thought it would be super cool to show you what is involved in the design and styling process of an event.
SO with my clients permission, i’m going to bare all and show BEHIND THE SCENES of my next VERY SPECIAL PROJECT, reveling the design, crafting and styling process.
SO WATCH THIS SPACE and don’t forget to SUBSCRIBE TO MY BLOG so you don’t miss out!
See you soon

It’s raining out, I’m rugged up with a Whittaker’s Sante bar hot chocolate………HMMMM!
I thought I would share Saturday afternoon’s comforts, which was a little more sophisticated than a hot chocolate.
I have very special friends and family, who have gone beyond the call of duty supporting ‘All the Frills’, to say thanks I thought I would host a relaxing evening tasting beautiful wines and a selection of cheese.
I love the concept of the cheese table, so I thought this was a perfect opportunity to give it a go. The cheese table concept fit’s in with so many events from weddings to birthdays and the best thing about a cheese table, once it’s set up the host can just sit back and relax while guests graze for hours.
Thanks for visiting, have a great week.
